Snowy Rome!

On Friday, February 3rd 2012 Rome was covered in snow.

A unique experience for the Eternal City. A snow storm like this was last seen, in Rome and in Florence, in 1985.

One of our guests is currently staying at our Ripa apartment in Rome.
When asked about his “Roman Holiday”, he told us: “I knew that coming to Rome in February could mean facing a little rain or bad weather. And being used to the Canadian winters I was sure that my wife and I could handle it. As it happens, it snowed on our second day here! A historical event, I have been told, that happens every 30 years or so. We decided to brave it out it and went over to the Piazza del Popolo yesterday and had lunch overlooking the square and were struck by all the people throwing snowballs and sliding around.”

The city is still covered in snow, traffic is finally subdued to a normal flow. And the beauty of it all is just amazing.

It will unfortunately last only a few more days. Enjoy more pictures on our Facebook page.
